Slow Sunday, hibernation & a recipe
Squashed roasties with chicken & purple sprouting & tahini dressing
It’s early morning, car lights shine briefly through the windows and across the ceiling, then gone. The tree out front just a few leaves left with sky patching through.
Deep silence, and warmth moving into the air as the radiators heat up.
It is a simple beginning, to a quiet day, as daylight starts to paint this room into existence and I, swim in the simplicity of it all.
Still as still, no leaves fluttering. Curtains drawn in windows across the street and one tiny bird flies into the tree. Gradually, I hear a car in the distance, and then that is gone too.
Autumn, turning to winter, hibernation getting under way. Life settling down, apparent stopping, while underground things ferment and pop and grow; hidden deep.
Joy dots
Peace
Slowing down
Last leaves on tree
Light shining through
Raindrops on window
Wet roofs
Colour of beetroot
Recipe
Squashed roasties & chicken
I par-boiled potatoes, squashed them then roasted. I pan fried chicken fillet, steamed purple sprouting and made some tahini dressing with light tahini, lemon juice, tamari, maple syrup and freshly grated ginger. All Ayurvedic types could eat this if in balance. Vata types out of balance replace sprouting for green beans and use lots of the dressing. Kapha types out of balance replace tahini dressing with something spicier like harissa. Pitta types replace tahini dressing with a minty yogurt dressing, or mint and cilantro chutney. I’ll create a recipe another time but lots online.

Beautiful, nourishing words as always, Lucy. To answer last week's question, I think it's absolutely okay for these Slow Sundays to hold warm things and difficult things. ❤️
