Deep blue sky with sun that warmed and sparkled the harbour water. People; smiling, sitting, dangling legs over harbour walls, friends chuckling, relaxing, meeting, being. And, a few enjoying alone time amidst the bustle and chatter of people not so far away. The day stayed like this, all glorious day. Me, wandering, basking, watching, enjoying, happy for this oasis in our U.K. February of grey cotton wool days. As the sun went down lights came on and darkness painted a light show of boats on the water, trees still with lights from Christmas, the forever Christmas trees, while cranes lit up patches of sky with red ruby’s and, some houseboats looked really cosy. The water shimmered, sparkled some more and the whole place, like an impressionist painting that I was walking through. Effervescent.
Today, traditional February has returned. But soon, soon. We are living through the in between times. Go well I say. Go well.
Humanity, simple, day in day out with earth and sky and stars and sun. Making fires and food and eating and laughing and, being kind. I love all those simple things. They are blankets in cold times to cuddle into, and warm the cockles. The cockles of the heart.

Banana bread for February grey cotton wool days
I posted this recipe around this time last year, life is speeding up for me, and so for todays Slow Sunday recipe I thought I would take it slow and share this link!
Reflection
The red fox with Apple in mouth trotted across the allotments in daylight. I saw him and he saw me. Sun going down on a warm summers day, people, all gone, away to summer evenings of being out and about. Like the fox but with other things in their mouths while I, stare, at the fox slinking, red, furry and bold. The soil watered and worms thirst quenched as seedlings grow that we’re dreamt about in months past when U.K. weather seemed forever, grey. But today, golden times. Watering can glistening where water still rests on its sides and the last of the sun, lights that up. A little universe of golden worlds, on the side of my watering can. The fox gone now, but not in my memory.
Wishing you the warmest,
Lucy x
