Sunny day. Heaven day. Paradise day. Sun and blue skies, all day.
Sun, shines, and people smile. Children laughing, bikes out, balls out, bats batting and park; full of humanity. Happy.
Evening now and sky; still blue.
Today, it is summer.
I visited the new allotment site two days ago. Caught an x4 bus out of the city to a field near some woods, where a group of 5 young people have created a new allotment site, and I am renting one of them. Their venture is called Roots Allotments.
They create lots of no-dig plots which is good for the biodiversity, the soil and urban populations who have no access to land or nutritious food. There are many other pluses to this project, too.
Today I returned with a friend in their car, with bean poles and tomatoes. The kind that will make great tomato sauce.
A today blue sky, sunny photo.
I created a 3 inch gap on all sides between my plot and surrounding field, last week – not so much sun that day.
A before photo.
An in process photo.
Finished work photo.
I have drawn up an Ayurvedic planting plan, with the plot divided into quarters, one for each main constitution – vata, pitta, kapha – and one for growing sattvic food. And so I will grow vata balancing food together, pitta balancing food together, kapha balancing food together, and Sattvic food together. To find out what all this means you could read my Ayurveda ‘shorts’ series – 2 minute reads posted on Wednesdays. Here’s a link to the first one.
As the growing season progresses I will share updates so that you can see how it all takes shape.

Well, it’s been a late Slow Sunday today and mostly factual. I hope you will forgive me, the allotment and sunshine took up my day. Next week I will aim to do better!
I think I may grow this apple on dwarf rootstock, it’s called Scrumptious. I grew it in the shared garden out back in the last place I lived in.
Wishing you the warmest,
Lucy x
Great to hear you've acquired another allotment, working in bare feet, I hope.🤔
Apologies accepted, but you must spend the time outdoors 🙏🏻
An Ayurvedic planting plan! How wonderful, Lucy!
